Athletic Director Statement on Softball
Aquinas parents and patrons,
I have been asked several times recently about the future of Aquinas softball. As many of you know our softball program, despite recent success, is faced with a participation number problem for the near future. Below are my findings with numbers.
Numbers based on surveys.
2025 numbers | 10-11 with 5 seniors | (present 8-9-10-11) |
2026 season | 7-8 Players | (present 7-8-9-10) |
2027 season | 7-9 players | (present 6-7-8-9) |
It takes 10 players to start the season, any higher number is better.
In my view there are two options for the 26-27 seasons.
- Recruit our halls and students
- COOP with another school within 30 miles
I have reached out previously to four schools, three said no due to large numbers of their own players and one that was dropping softball and did not want to COOP.
I have reached out to an additional three local schools, all with lower numbers of players than the previous schools I reached out to.
I think there is a reasonable chance we will continue softball in some way for 2026 and 2027 and a possible return in 2028 (If we are in a COOP) to offering our own softball team stand alone.
If you have any idea’s, comments, etc. you wish to share on this matter please let me know.
Thanks
God Bless
Ron Mimick
