Aquinas Catholic’s Science Olympiad Team secured an impressive 8th place at the State Competition held on April 26th, hosted by the University of Lincoln East Campus.

The Aquinas Catholic MS Science Olympiad Team, under leadership of Mrs. Shelly Mayo, achieved outstanding performances, earning well-deserved medals in various events. Vincent and Holly clinched 1st place in Microbe Mission, this was Vincent’s back-to-back win in Microbe Mission. Holly with Carter E won 1st place in Reach for the Stars. Vincent and Elliot took 2nd place in Dynamic Planet. Kyle and Austin in Fossils, Vincent and Morgan in Disease Detectives, and Madelyn and Sabra in Anatomy and Physiology achieved an impressive 3rd place. Leah and Holly claimed 4th place in Write it DO it. Leah and Madelyn in Meteorology; Sabra and Madelyn in Code Busters clinched 5th place. In Optics, Sabra and Holly and in Crime Busters; Regina and Morgan placed 7th. Regina and Lainley achieved 8th place in Potions and Poisons. Austin and Elliot in Air Trajectory; Carter and Lainley  in Road Scholar earned 9th place. Kyle and Jacey secured 10th place in Wind Power.

The Aquinas Catholic High School team of Jacob and Ellie won 2nd place in Electric Vehicle.

The Science Olympiad competitions consist of 23 team events that encompass a wide array of scientific disciplines. Each year, the events are carefully rotated to reflect the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. By promoting collaboration across disciplines, Science Olympiad all students to actively participate. All events are team-based, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and cooperation.
