History

In December 1959, Bishop James V. Casey announced the establishment of a new Catholic High School in David City, which came to be known as Aquinas High School. Since its opening on September 5, 1961, with nearly 300 students representing 15 parishes across three counties, Aquinas has remained steadfast in its commitment to Catholic traditions. Over the years, the campus has seen expansions, including the construction of Aquinas Middle School in 1991, the addition of the iconic St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel in 1997, the incorporation of St. Joseph’s building in 1999, the expansion of the science wing in 2006, and the inclusion of a second gym, concessions, locker rooms, band room, and chorus room in 2013.
